Damage Control

PJ's eyes nearly fell out of her head when she saw the first headline of the paper. Oh! This was so wrong on so many levels! Her mind whirled about, trying to figure out where Pslyder would be right then... so she could hurt him severely. No, there'd be time for that later, first thing she had to do was get all over town and scoop up those papers before Tim... or anyone else could see that!

She didn't much like the scooter Psly had given her, and it was hard to drive with a bandaged up hand. Oh, to heck with the bandage... she ripped the wrappings off and headed all over town. She emptied every last paper box she could find, and even ripped a few papers out of the hands of people already reading them.

There was going to be a heck of a bonfire later....

Let the dead remain in their graves, Pslyder.

More bad timing

Karen didn't have much to do at the estate of Lord Phrobious. She did her best to avoid being alone with the Lord... his Lady still seemed to feel that he wanted to replace her with Karen, and she wanted to put any such rumors to rest. 'Besides,' she thought, 'doesn't she already know about my reputation?'

Her reading skills still needed work, but practically everything on the estate was written in Elvish or Eldar... not something she was willing to tackle. So she had the drivers pick up fliers, papers, pamphlets... anything they could get their hands on.

So that she had a copy of the Rhy'Din Weekly News would be no surprise... the surprise came when she read the headline... "PJ Ramirez seen making hot and heavy with Tim Enralyte!  Locals baffled!"

"What in th' world?" she exclaimed.

"She was probably drunk, ma'am... she'd have to have been." replied the driver who had delivered the paper.

She tossed the paper aside without reading any further. "I shouldae been there. I shouldae been around."

"You can't be everywhere ma'am..." said the driver as he picked up the paper.

"But I shouldae been there fer her."
