It was a night not much different from any other on the isle. Yet the night was special. Tonight was going to be help the first Archmage tourney finals of the new century. The Challenger Cassius Gaius Maximus, the defender Syous of Mystra. Syous's move to power had been a strange one last cycle, reaching exactly 100 WoL defeating Will Wulfson to challenge lady Dansantes for the title he won. Things
with Cas seemed to be set up just the same. For a year Cas had been a mage. No ups no downs just doing his stuff competing in tourney after tourney gaining experience. Now the time and come for these two. Syous's first defense and Cas's first shot at attianing the title.
Syous and Cas came out blasting. The first duel was definitely the best of the night. The lead switched hands 7 times (if you include tieing it up which happened 3 times). The duel was fast and fierce as nine points were scored in 9 rounds. Syous took the first duel 5-4 ring history, and it seemed the ring names would be coincidental for the night. As pointed out after the first duel for the last few finals the first duels winner had gone on to
lose the next two. Surely Syous wouldn't have the same curse hit him would he. Although Syous was the holder of the bye curse for several tournies in a row, could the curses continue to plague Syous? Only the next duel could tell.
The next duel began in a ring named beginnings. Although it may not have made sense then it would be a beginning. Cas dominated the rest of the match. Syous never saw a lead the rest of the way losing 5-2 then 5-2.5. Cas claimed victory and right fully so it would seem as he just showed he was far more on his game then Syous. Cas in now the 12th Archmage of the duel of Magic, and as far as i know the first Roman. Way to go Cas, go another year
without changing ranks and that will be a accomplishment.
