On the night of Saturday, June 12, 1999 in the rings of the Outback the tournament was begun to find out who would become the new Holder of the Green Opal, Pathfinder.

Four Emeralds making the appearance to fight for the right to hold Pathfinder. The tournament being done round robin style. The contestants for this tournament where Marzan, Treefellr(Layne), AndrewFrcr, and Kelli Elan. Rask was there keeping track of the Wins and losses for the contestants while I officiated each of the matches. It was a long night of heart and soul fighting.

Round One of the pairings up found Layne fighting Andrew. For nine rounds Layne and Andrew kept each other on their toes and guessing as to what the other would do. Layne coming out on top at the end of the nineth round to defeat Andrew, five to three.

Round One also saw Marzan up against Kelli. For seven rounds Kelli and Marzan kept each other on their toes. Tooth and nail they went at each other. Kelli finally taking the match from Marzan in the seventh round with a score of five to three.

Round Two we had Layne and Kelli going at each other. Keeping each other sharp. These two went blow for blow for most of the match. Layne taking the lead and the win in the seventh round. Defeating Kelli five to four in seven rounds.

Round Two saw Andrew up against Marzan in the other ring. These two traded blows and kicks like there was no tomorrow. Keeping it neck and neck for the whole of the fight. Marzan finally defeating Andrew in the tenth round five to four.

Round Three. Layne was up against Marzan. Layne taking a beating as his energy began to fade a little with very little time between matches or maybe his concentration was just off. Who could say for sure. Marzan defeated Layne in seven rounds five to one. While in the other ring we had Kelli up against Andrew. Andrew just had no concentration for this round. Finding Kelli's looks quite the distraction which Kelli took advantage of and ended the fight
in just five rounds. Defeating Andrew five to zero.

After the third round Andrew was eliminated. Layne, Kelli and Marzan all tied with two wins and one loss. Rask and I deciding that the contestant that gave away the least amount of points through those three rounds would get the bye. When the calculations were completed it was stated that Kelli gave away the least number of points and would receive the bye. The next round of fighting being simple elimination by loss. The winner to face Kelli in the
last match of the night and the winner of that last match becoming the new holder of Pathfinder.

Round Four beginning with Layne and Marzan facing against each other. Marzan and Layne keeping the fight head to head for nine rounds. Each one giving as good as they get. Knowing that this was it. Winner going to the next round and the loser out for the count. Neck and neck they went. Finally in the nineth round Layne defeated Marzan five to four. Taking the win and turning to face Kelli as the exhausted Marzan went off to fall into bed and nurse
the bruises and such he walked out of the outback with.

Layne and Kelli facing off in the ring as Rask got Pathfinder ready to present to the winner of this match. Kelli taking the lead with the rest that she got and the total concentration and determination that she showed. Letting Layne only score one point on her the whole match. Kelli taking Layne out of the picture in five rounds with a score of five to one.

A cheer going up for Kelli as the match concluded from the sparse gathering of those watching. Rask moving to the rings and presenting Kelli with a hug and the hard earned Green Opal, Pathfinder. Congradulations coming from all around as everyone started to file out of the Outback. The eastern clock reading 3:00 am Sunday morning by the time the tournament was over.

So let it be known to every man and woman within the Duel of Fists. Kelli Elan now holds the Green Opal, Pathfinder having a knew owner and wearer. As of this day Saturday June 12, 1999.

Kelli,
Congrads on the fine win. You've done soo well in soo many tournies and it has finally paid off with a win. I was unable to attend the tourney even though I wanted to watch but I'm sure Pathfinder was well earned. Wear it with skill and honour.

Kelli!

I can't be as proud as I am now. I've seen you go through so many tournaments only to come so close! But this was one that was not to be lost, nor forgotten. Thank you very much for the wonderful duel and for the breathtaking events. You are a very fine dueler, and this proves it even more so.

Darien had been unable to attend the Pathfinder Tourney; but he watched through various "eyes." He didn't stop by the Outback to add his own public congratulations to the board for Kelli. She knew how he felt when she won. He'd known how she felt ... how the win was something intensely special and sharing it with her was a privilege he didn't deserve; but, reveled in, nonetheless.

He thanked Lirenel with a quick, cursory note via rhydin.net's email system. The incongruous and technological leech had been there in the shadows to keep an eye on things while Darien himself could not be. He had made preparations for their departure to visit her home planet for a funeral during that time and it had taken far longer than anticipated.

When Kelli arrived home the night she won, she found Tellarian champagne chilled and a warmed Darien waiting. Once the bottle was opened and a few glasses consumed ... a private dance was performed, just for her.
